8 day bicycle trip
‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least
of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’
Matthew 25:40
The Least of These
“Bike trip. It was a good time.
In the bike trip, you can observe yourself from
the side. It is a challenge. It is time when you get out
from your routine and do something that you are
not used to do in everyday life. It is when after a
hard day on the bike you can sit by a bonfire, talk
with others, and enjoy it. It is when you can have a
walk under the moon and stars, searching for
constellations. It is amazing! To watch everyone
crawl out of their tents, trying to wrap themselves in
clothes to stay warm in a cold morning air. Every
day you observe beautiful landscapes that change
each other, ride through holes in the pavement, hold on to the steering wheel until your fingers go numb
when you ride cobblestone, and steer around mud puddles.
Bike trip is the time when you can see egoism or empathy. Every evening you make a choice. Whether
you unpack your belongings and hide somewhere to rest or you unpack and look where you can help
others so that at the end we all can rest and sit by the bonfire.
Personally, for me it was a choice: to go or not to go. Although, I talked about going to the bike trip
since the winter I doubted it until the last day. After hard workdays I had a dilemma of whether to go or to
stay and go swimming in the sea, sleep as much as I want and just do nothing. It is my second big bike trip
and after each of them, I was left with so many emotions and experiences that I will probably remember
them until the end of my life. Thus, I am not disappointed that I decided to go!
I wish that everyone who wants to go but doubts would just try going once. Who knows maybe it will
change your life as it changed mine. Before bicycle trip in 2018 I was not riding a bike at all and now I ride
it every time I go to work. Less than a week has passed since the last bike trip and I am already looking
forward for the next one!”
