‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’ Matthew 25:40
The Least of These
New Year is a holiday, which you want to spend with the people you love. This year our youth group decided to spend it together. They did everything on their own: gather everybody who was interested and divided who will bring and prepare what for celebration. Each brought one or couples dishes with them but food was not the main part of celebration. Program included dancing, games, contests and also fellowship time and songs. During the celebration, each wrote down their dreams and plans for upcoming year of 2020. All of the papers were put in a bottle, in order to open it in one year and see what was accomplished. At the end the building was cleaned and then everybody scattered to their homes for long-awaited sleep. According to our tradition every seventh of January our church goes around the village singing carols for the people. Christmas is a good reason to serve others and remind them of the birth of our Savior Jesus Christ. This time we had around 14 people with us so we decided to use vehicles for transportation in order to reach everybody on our list. We had more than 30 people whom we wanted to visit and for 13 of them we bought food baskets. Although we started singing carols at 11 am we finished around 19 pm. We were tired but it was a pleasant fatigue. We visited many people, all of them heard the Good News and many of them we blessed with food baskets. Sincere thankfulness, smiles, and tears of the people motivate us to continue serving people and spreading the light of God. At the end of the day we were invited to a small church in Vasylkiv where people were very hospitable and prepared a great supper. We had to give back something to them so we blessed them with music and worship! On the other day, we had a chance to sing in a nearby village Kozhuhivka, where they hosted a kid’s program. It was a pleasure for us to sing there and a good opportunity to practice and get more experience. P.S. Turn on the subtitles and watch the video highlights of Christmas Carols and our activities!
