Last week together with two other churches, we went to help people in Andriivka - village that was occupied by Russians for nearly a month. What we saw there and stories that we have heard are barely explainable by logic and reason! First, Russians checked all the men in town if they have been involved in local guard formations. All those, whom they suspected were killed. One grandpa complained with tears on his eyes that Russian soldiers executed his grandson who was 23 years old outside of the village. Second, they lived in people’s houses and ate their food, animals. Whatever they liked they took without a question, whether it was a chicken or a car. Third, before they were pushed out of the village by Ukrainian army they took everything valuable. They looted every single house and every single room. They took bike parts, phones, computers, they even killed chickens and put them in garbage bags to take with them. Locals told us that Russians were surprised that people in Ukraine have indoor toilets, paved roads and painted houses. Forth, the hardest for me to comprehend was the fact that Russian soldiers destroyed everything good and nice. Yes, you have read it right they destroyed everything good: houses, rooms, furniture, cars, etc. A nice village, a nice house with a front yard looked like a garbage dump after them. In one of the houses they used one of the rooms as a toilet. There were feces right on the carpet… In another place, people stored a nice little Hyundai car in their garage. Russian soldiers knocked out all of its windows, busted the front of the car, doors, dashboard and pumped expanding foam in to the engine of the car. Moreover, all of civilian cars that were parked on the side of the roads were ran over by military vehicles. This is what Russian worldview system looks like. For me it is hard to explain it by reason. The only explanation I have is that this is a pure evil spirit and that is why our hope is in Jesus Christ. “I am the gate. Those who enter the sheep pen through me will be saved. They will go in and out of the sheep pen and find food. A thief comes to steal, kill, and destroy. But I came so that my sheep will have life and so that they will have everything they need.” John 10:9-10
