Last week youth group organized a retreat for themselves. Almost a half of the group graduated this year and it was one of the reasons to go on a five-day vacation. We headed to a former quarry that is known for its clear water. First of all, this trip was unique because for the first time it was not organized and led by Vitaliy – pastor of the church. Youth group leaders and youth themselves organized and prepared everything. The place looked even better in real life than on photos. Water was warm and clear so swimming was one of our main entertainments during retreat. In addition, we have played a lot of volleyball. In the beginning we had a hard time just keeping the ball in the air and it brought much frustration but towards the end of our time there, we have learned how to play with each other and create interesting types of combinations. One of the memorable moments was one morning when after the breakfast we found out that people near our camp had gathered for a water baptism. We joined them in the joyful ceremony and greeted two people who got baptized. It was so pleasantly unexpected to see the birth of two souls in Christ! We praise God that He kept all of us safe and no one got hurt during our retreat. We had hard times and arguments between each other but the overall impression of retreat was good. This was our first ever youth retreat but it is possible that we have started new tradition this year!
