Spring 2004 Kerch
We then went to the largest orphanage in Crimea, approximately 425 orphans. We were amazed at how large the compound was. The day we arrived the children were receiving honors and each individual group did a march and then received their reward.
This group, Vitaly, 6 Seminary students, Chris, Kim & Angelo, Rich & I then went to a smaller orphanage of grade school age children and ministered there for 3 days. We did skits, puppets, drama and crafts. It was a blessing to watch each child and how they responded.
Some wanted to be as close as possible, hungry for love and attention. For others it took a little longer but eventually we won their trust. The orphanage was clean and the children appeared to be well taken care of. One day we ate lunch with them.
It was all we could do to fit into their little chairs and get our knees under the table but nothing is too difficult for God. After the first 3 days were then able to spend time with the rest of the children. We gave the Life and Story of Jesus Christ to all of the children and teachers along with a toothbrush and toothpaste for each person.
What a blessing it was to see the word of God going into the hands of all of these children. We are believing that God’s word will continue to work in the lives of all these children and teachers.
